As a beautiful sunrise brightens the morning sky we worry about the forecast for tomorrow. Today will be wonderful. Tomorrow may be cloudy. Not the best weather for the total eclipse of the sun. If we stay here at the lake our best view may be either in our kayaks out in the middle of the lake or up through the woods to the farm. Traffic could be a little snarly in CNY, the Finger Lakes region, and the North Country. We’re sitting right in the path.

Our plan for today includes a trip to the Homer Center for the Arts to hear the CNY Songbirds take a whack at the Steely Dan repertoire. No small task. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker assembled the best musicians in the world to play their unique and awesome material. Level of difficulty? It’s way up there.

Let me see, here’s a sampling of the talent they employed: Michael McDonald, Skunk Baxter, Larry Carlton, Steve Freaking Gadd, Jeff Porcaro… and so many more. The CNY Songbirds are loaded with talent. If anybody has a shot at presenting this stuff it’s these guys. https://www.facebook.com/cnysongbirds

The concert starts at 4:00 PM today. Who could have known when Homer booked this concert that women’s basketball would take center stage at 3:00 PM? Not a problem for us. We’ve enjoyed, so much, the rise of women in sports. We’re taping the game. Don’t tell me who wins OK?
