It was a remarkable and eye opening weekend in Fort Lauderdale. The film festival was spectacular. The 37th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival was everything a world class film festival should be. International. You bet. Remind me to brush up on my Spanish. I had a great conversation with a film enthusiast from Barcelona. Half bad English, half bad Spanish, but interesting nonetheless. EVERYTHING was HUGE. The food, the screens, the crowds, the music, the parties, and the accommodations were all way beyond expectations.

I was particularly struck by the involvement of the directors of the festival. They knew our film. They participated in and guided us through every event. I felt welcomed and frankly, kinda pampered. I even was stunned at the number of people that knew of my work. Not only my film scores but who actually knew my songs. My Florida peeps turned out! Very cool.

So now that the glory is over, the hard work of getting our film out into the world has begun in earnest. December 2nd we will be in Manchester, VT for the Vermont premiere. It is nearly sold out. Joining Bill and me for comments and questions after the film will be Pat Musick, the star of our film, Karol Martesko-Fenster, our Executive Producer, Andrew Chaikin, one of the world’s foremost space experts, who is in the film, and a very special guest of mine, Dan DeMars, who teaches a space class at Dartmouth. Yes, THAT Dan DeMars, who built my treasured Viridis guitar.

On the home front, Wanny and I expect to have an intimate Thanksgiving dinner out here at the lake with Ryan and Nicole. Basically, a bit of a calm before the storm. Tomorrow we are hanging with the grandkids. My two little Hobin girls, Lyra and Vega. WooHoo!! I have one more day of classes before the holiday break. At the moment, I am in the studio preparing to write some music for Bruce Coville’s FLUNKED, an installment in the Alien series. Bruce and I are cooking up a couple of really cool projects. More on that later.

Be sure to check out the pics from Fort Lauderdale. The old guy is still viable and having fun.
