Cortland Concert July 12, 2019

Mike Smith captured this pic of us on stage at our Cortland Main Street Music Series concert this past Friday evening. It was our first concert without our brother and founder Doug Moncrief. The crowd couldn’t have been more warm and comforting.

It’s hard to look at the empty space to my left and all the way back to Shawn’s drums. Doug really filled up the stage with his musicality, his guitar, his keys, and that magnificent voice. It exemplifies the same emptiness we feel in our hearts.

We will continue to fly in the “Missing Man Formation”. Doug Moncrief is irreplaceable.

It seems fitting that our first show back would be in Cortland. A town that has embraced our music since the 1970s. And a timely coincidence that the very next morning a massive three story sculpture was unveiled on the SUNY Cortland campus as part of their Music Legacy Project. The Todd Hobin Band is, in fact, very much a part of that legacy having performed on campus more than any other artist in history. The image below is part of the video portion of the display. You can visit this massive work of art in the Corey Student Union building.
