An Arrow Shot Through Time

Dear Friend,

We invite you to join us on a journey through history that still echoes with hope today.  This is the story of the Choctaw Nation, a Native American people, and the Irish people. Their connection is the result of a humane gift that transcended different cultures, languages, and histories.

In 1847, the Choctaw Nation, reeling from the horrors of the Trail of Tears, reached across 4,000 miles to send a $170 donation (the equivalent of $7,000 today) to aid the Irish people during the Great Hunger. Despite their own suffering, the Choctaw chose generosity—a gesture that has forged a lasting bond between two peoples. That bond still inspires to this day.

This is not just a film about history; it’s a story about resilience, empathy, and the enduring power of human kindness.

Through the lens of Choctaw artist Waylon Gary White Deer and Irish humanitarian Don Mullan—two men who’ve spent decades building bridges between these cultures—An Arrow Shot Through Time revisits this powerful moment and explores its modern-day impact.

As we confront today’s global challenges—division, war, displacement, inequality—this film reminds us what’s possible when compassion leads the way.
