Easter Blessings

I’m trying to find the words, let alone the time, to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. The outpouring of love has comforted more than you can know.

Sean Ahern was a special man. A soldier, a cop, a husband, and a father. By all accounts, he excelled at all of these. We spent this Easter Sunday with his four kids, all under eight years of age. Molly, Ellie, Maggie, and Jack know how great their father was. You see it in their eyes and their demeanor. They know what they had and they know what they have lost.

The Easter Bunny came this year. Aunts, Uncles, and grandparents arrived, as in years past. But this year’s celebration was very different. There was laughter and there were tears. Many moments of reflection from young eyes trying to grasp this new reality.

Even young Jack, barely 18 months old, knew something was very different. He hung with me all day. No words. Just feelings.

Some things seem normal, they’re just not the same. Sitting on the floor with Jack, watching Teletubbies, he would turn around and look me in the eyes. Over and over again as if to ask the same question. A question I have no answer for.

With gratitude, I thank you for your generosity and understanding as we move forward.
