Cursive is a Secret Code; a fading form of written communication no longer taught in our schools. My Journal is filled with it. My ink and paper private thoughts and memory vault. My online blog is normal speak. I invite all of my friends to read it.
It’s not that my life is all that interesting; or my thoughts for that matter. But, if I share everything freely, openly - then my family knows about concerts, movies and such. No excuses. Read my blog! It’s all in there. Well, not all. Sometimes I get so busy doing stuff, I don’t get to write about doing stuff.
Family, friends, and fans are the lifeblood of what I do. Songwriting, moviemaking, and art are all about communication. Is it truly art or music if nobody sees or hears it? Maybe. But the joy of doing it is amplified greatly through interaction. And I get so much more back that I give.
Speaking of this “Secret Code” called cursive. People my age can read and write it. Most folks of a younger age don’t even try. Too much work. I never worry about the little Hobins picking up one of my Journals to read Grampa Todd’s innermost thoughts. It ain’t going to happen.
Interestingly enough, the government was looking to hire senior citizens who can read and write in cursive to “decode” some of our nations most valuable documents. If I had more time, I would love to do it.
But, for this old man, I have to get ready for a gig tomorrow night, with more to come. Check “NEWS” on this website.
